Growing Families: Welcoming New Life in Arkansas Exhibit Opening

Growing Families: Welcoming New Life in Arkansas

The Old Independence Regional Museum invites you to the opening of our newest special exhibit, Growing Families: Welcoming New Life in Arkansas, on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Explore the history of pregnancy, childbirth, midwives, babyhood, and family life in Arkansas through photographs, artifacts, and stories from generations past. Learn about the important role of traditional midwives, the Stork Inn, birth records, newborn footprints, and the many ways Arkansas families welcomed new life into the world.

The event will begin with a special presentation by Stephanie Saunders, Lyon College professor and celebrated author of Covered Buttons, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the exhibit.

Guests are invited to enjoy light refreshments while exploring the exhibit.

Admission: $5

Join us as we celebrate the stories of mothers, babies, midwives, and families who helped shape our Arkansas communities.
