This poster is in our newest exhibit-Our Voices, Our Votes that is in place; in conjunction with the Smithsonian exhibit coming this fall entitled- Voices and Votes: Democracy in America.

Joseph T. Robinson was elected to Congress in 1902, elected Arkansas governor in 1912, U.S. Senator in 1913 by AR Legislature to fill vacancy created by the death of Jeff Davis. During the New Deal, Robinson “was unquestionably the most powreful man in the U.S. Senate” (Dougan’s book, p. 427) He died in July 1937 while serving as Senate Majority Leader.
