Batesville’s Haunted House
A photocopied newspaper article that ran in the Arkansas Democrat Magazine Newspaper, dated April 25 1954 and entitled “Batesville’s Haunted House.” The house in question was the old Ewing house which predated the Civil War. The occupants at the time were the Herrin family and they were interviewed about the house. They mentioned hearing strange noises and doors opening and closing. This image is part of the Hudson Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
