Death of J.R. Evans Jr., a former BHS student
This newspaper clipping details the death of J.R. Evans Jr., a former BHS student who was killed in a plane crash in Texas. Evans was an instructor at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Base at the time of his death. A few months before his death he spoke to students at BHS while visiting his parents when he was on leave. The students he spoke to were impressed with his love of the Navy Air Corps. The clipping is part of the Independence County Historical Society Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
