Last week we had a wonderful visit during a summer downpour with Roy W. Roberts, Jr. and Sr. These gentlemen were at the OIRM to generously donate nets, lines, and other instruments their family used for generations to collect mussel shells along the White River. Roy Sr. is full of information and stories on his time collecting the mussels, beginning at age 12 and continuing until the locks and dams were put in place.
OIRM is honored to be entrusted with the legacy of the Roberts family. We are planning on displaying many – if not all – these items in the near future.
