Here are a couple of nostalgic Halloween items from the museum’s collections.
First is a Halloween postcard from Thelma Pickens to her parents in October 1922. The front of the card has “Halloween Greetings” printed in black with yellow background, 2 black cats on the wall with a jack-o-lantern between, and a city scape in the background with a full moon. (OIRM, Winkle, Don collection)
Next is a Halloween toy rattle with a witch on its front. It has a wooden handle and the rattle is made of tin. Small balls inside make noise when the toy is shaken. (OIRM, Mobley, Ann collection)
